You hear of nutty shit and you wonder, “who does that? Really, who the fuck does that??” Who saves up to buy a tractor? Who builds a fansite dedicated to Giselle? Who exclusively reads FOX news ? Other people do. Not you. I thought about these “other people” this morning at work while pitching an idea for “a great website” that no one I know would ever visit. “Why don’t we have this site in which people could upload videos and photos of themselves eating pizza? Then their photos could be on the company’s homepage!” “Yes! Great idea,” said the meeting people. So, if the marketing people are on board with this website idea, what people do they think are going to upload pictures of themselves eating pizza? Like, who the fuck cares about what you look like eating pizza, and moreover, why do you have time or the inclination to do such a thing? Why is this funny to you? Who the fuck are you? Are you the guy who is known among your friends as that enigmatic, “crazy pizza-loving guy” who’s just “over the top” enough about your pizza eating to actually take the time to snap a photo of yourself eating pizza and actually upload it to the Internet for everyone in the world to see? What are you identity aspirations? What motivates you to do this, to answer my call for public Internet pizza consumption? You are other people. You are not me.
