What is up with people all of a sudden being interested in Sam Shepard and Jessica Lange?  And who knew Sheppard and Lange would make such a dashing pair? Do you remember when they met in high school at the Winter Wonderland Dance? Snowflakes fell as the DJ played “When Smoke Gets in Your Eyes,” and Chantel Hobbs introduced them at the povidone iodine punch table. It was, after all, Lange’s idea to spike the punch with povidone iodine. It was the iodine that Shepard later drank that made him fall in povidone love with the actress. Lange was so brilliant to charm him with her povidone iodine. And Shepard — what a fool to drink that iodine-infused punch! My question is: Why didn’t Sam Shepard write a play about meeting Jessica Lange and falling in love with her after drinking povidone iodine punch at the Winter Wonderland Dance? ”Love and Povidone: a Play in One Act” by Sam Shepard
