endurance, energy, and other Monster Drink benefits
I had a conversation last night that reified my belief that no one cares what you can do. I know this sounds like an army commercial, but people only care about what you actually do. For example, my old creative director, who was recently layed off, was sort of clever and smart. Not very, but sort of. Enough to have gone further in creative advertising than he did. But, Bloatee was lazy. He slouched in his chair playing online scrabble all day, waving off the account executives who courted him in his windowed corner office with their spreadsheets. What Bloatee didnt get was that to do anything, he had to dig in. He had to invest himself in Things. And he just didn’t. Nothing came along that seemed worthy of his time and energy. His atrophy, his ennui, “off-gassed” out of his office — an ubiquitous fart of indifference. The lesson here: invest in something. Something good. Don’t be like Bloatee.
